MEN’S HAIR TRENDS SS17

MEN’S HAIR TRENDS SS17
Rebecca Parker

Jennifer Linton and Jaye Macdonald, co-directors of Aberdeen based salon Linton & Mac, have revealed their top men’s hair trends of spring/summer 2017.

Ports 1961Fringe benefits

Heavy fringes are huge this season, and there was a noticeable amount of designers opting for this careless, messy look throughout S/S17 Men’s Fashion Week. Raw, natural styles were dominating the runway at Salvatore Ferragamo, while Ports 1961 showcased the look perfectly on its boyish models. The key to this undone style lies in the cut: layers are essential to maximise natural texture and boost movement.

Hair Fades

The fade haircut has been one of the hottest men’s hair trends of recent years and is extremely popular at Linton & Mac therefore it’s been no surprise to see more designers embracing this contemporary style on the runways. The male models at Bobby Abley and Ermanno Scervino rocked a variety of different fades, from undercuts with tapered transitions to sleeker high fades.

Androgynous

Androgynous hairstyles have been steadily gaining popularity over the last couple of months, but you know a hair trend has hit the big time when it’s all over the Fashion Week runways. Androgynous styles were seen at Hermès and Armani, where the models showcased gender-neutral hairstyles. The modern man no longer feels the need to be overly masculine and can embrace feminine beauty.
