Blue Tit Launches Its Latest Salon In Topshop’s London Flagship

Blue Tit, the multi-award-winning, sustainable hairdressing group, has continued adding to its ever-evolving salon portfolio with the addition of its ninth stylish salon location. Set within Topshop’s flagship store, located on Oxford Street, London, the salon boasts an incredibly unique, talking-point interior, designed to look like an abandoned urban landscape.

As a brand, Blue Tit has become as renowned for its design-forward salon interiors as for its award-winning creative hairdressing skills, so Blue Tit Topshop Oxford Circus has been designed to meet both the salon group and Topshop’s exacting and forward-thinking design standards. Each Blue Tit salon has its own distinguishing identity, defined by a unique interior style, and Blue Tit Topshop Oxford Circus is no exception. Inspired by the concept of a deserted urban landscape, the salon space has been imaginatively designed to emulate an architectural structure, abandoned and overtaken by plants. This design vision was inspired by a desire to create an element of calmness, clean air and stillness in an otherwise concrete, man-made environment.

An Urban Jungle Vibe 

To construct this concept of an urban jungle, the salon has been given a raw, industrial-style foundation, characterized by grey concrete wall panels, brick-effect walls and rust coloured flooring. To intensify the urban effect, a dramatic angular ceiling, featuring an origami-style collection of geometric shapes, has been created throughout the main section of the salon. The shape, structure and complexity of this bespoke ceiling, creates an overwhelming sense of architectural landscape and the impression of a cityscape. A bespoke piece of geometric artwork, in a striking colour combination of royal blue and gold, takes over the ceiling and walls of the entrance, making a bold style statement as clients enter the styling area, and is the perfect accent to the graphic lines and shapes within the ceiling. A tonal grey colour scheme, as well as neon blue signage – the hallmark of Blue Tit salons – further amplifies the urban vibe.

Reclaimed By Nature 

Sitting in stark contrast to the industrial design elements of the salon are lush green elements, inspired by nature. Various types of foliage, in abundant shades of green, have been creatively woven throughout the salon space. Ivy cascades down the walls in the main salon area, while greenery sits in the corners of the walls, appearing to creep in from outside, bringing an element of wildness and nature to the salon and completing the effect of a deserted urban environment, reclaimed by nature.

Furnishings & Fittings

In true Blue Tit style, it is not only the design of the salon interior that is unique and inspired – the furnishings and finishing touches are equally inimitable and imaginative, having been either sourced from across the world or created bespoke for Blue Tit Topshop Oxford Circus. Chrome and blue styling chairs were crafted by specialist manufacturers in South Korea, the salon’s washbasins hail from Italy, and all the salon mirrors were made bespoke for the salon. Above the washbasins hangs a projector, displaying nature-related videos, in line with its sustainable ethos, which clients can watch while having their hair washed. As a brand that’s built a reputation on its creativity and avant-garde approach, it’s hardly surprising that Blue Tit’s latest salon boasts such forward-thinking features.

Excited & Proud

The statement interior of the latest Blue Tit salon is the product of the imagination of Blue Tit co-founders Perry Patraszewski and Andi Hinteregger. Speaking of the new salon, they said, “We are excited and proud to be opening our ninth salon in Topshop Oxford Circus.
