Trend Focus: The Winter Braids by Brooks & Brooks

Trend Focus: The Winter Braids by Brooks & Brooks
Rebecca Parker

Braids are a summer staple, but as we head into a new season, they take on a new personality for the autumn/winter season. Marlon Hawkins from Brooks & Brooks, London, talks us through the braids to be offering your clients this winter.

The Winter Twist

“Summer is all about festival, boho hair and braids fit this trend perfectly, and the more dishevelled the better. Now, as we head into a new season, the popular style takes on a new dimension with looser textures and less patterns. Gone is the mixture of rope and fishtail braids worn together. This autumn/winter season it’s all about less is more. Winter braids have a more commercial feel to them and are perfect for pulling into a top knot or low-slung ponytail. They are also the perfect style for gym bunnies who want to look cool while they exercise.”

The Classic French Braid is ideal for day or night and can be dressed up for a night out. It looks best if it is worn soft with a few pieces left free around the face and around the braids. Powders and texture sprays will give it a more personalised finish.

The Fishtail Braid is the perfect transformation after a daytime blow dry. Simply fishtail braid the hair over one shoulder, pulling it out gently for fullness while maintaining the detail.

The Knot Braid is super-easy and fun for a night out or a session at the gym. The messier the better is key with this style, and playing with products will give it a texturised finish.
