Shaping Futures Breaks All-Time Fundraising Record
Shaping Futures, Schwarzkopf Professional’s charitable initiative, has had its all-time fundraising record smashed (£13,000 raised in 2017), as its UK volunteers donate nearly £19,000 to help disadvantaged youngsters in Vietnam and the Philippines.
The Fundraising
The group of eight stylists from across the UK were all asked to raise £1500 each, however following months of curry nights, fancy dress events and sponsored silences, as well as donations from past volunteers, they have raised close to £4,000 more than originally asked, even before all the donations are officially in.
What’s Happening?
From now until the middle of September, the volunteers will be travelling to Vietnam and the Philippines in small groups, to help teach over 50 young people to cut, colour and style hair. Following the course, the young people will be offered additional training or positions within local hair salons, from which they’ll be able to build a life away from poverty.
A Fantastic Group
Speaking of the achievement, Janet Maitland, UK Ambassador for Shaping Futures said, “I am just amazed by how fantastic this group is. Not only are they giving up their summer holidays to volunteer but they have raised so much money towards helping these young people, all of whom have experienced trauma and loss in the lives, build new futures for themselves.
Raring To Go
“Already the first team of volunteers have put their skills into practice in Vietnam, while I’m in Manila with the first group of UK hairdressers who arrived on 13th August, raring to go!”
