Macmillan’s Brave the Shave

Macmillan’s Brave the Shave
Fiona Ward

Will your salon be getting involved with Macmillan Cancer Support’s Brave the Shave this summer? The charity’s latest campaign encourages fundraisers to raise money by shaving off their locks – here’s what they had to say…

By braving the shave you’ll be standing proudly alongside men and women with cancer whilst raising money so Macmillan Cancer Support can help people take control back from cancer.

We know that cancer can turn the world upside down and that’s especially true when it comes to appearance. Men and women with cancer go through hair loss and changes to their appearance that can affect everything from the way they look, to how they feel. So when they need someone to turn to, Macmillan is here. Right from the moment of diagnosis, through treatment and beyond, we’re here to give people the energy and inspiration to take back control of their life.

Every penny you raise will help us give people with cancer and their families the specialised support they need, when they need it most. You only need to read the stories of Luke and Kate to see how important your Brave Shave is.

Macmillan are also working with TONI&GUY to offer Strength in Style, a service to improve the quality of hair care on the high street for people living with cancer.

The Strength in Style consultants have undergone intensive training and offer specialist support and advice on hair care to help cancer sufferers deal with the emotional and practical issues surrounding the sensitive nature of hair loss and hair thinning due to cancer treatment. They can also give advice on hair cutting and styling pre, during and post treatment and help with choosing and personalising a wig.
