Local Derby Hairdresser Wins Phenix Grant
The first ever recipient of the Phenix Salon Suites Grant in the UK local entrepreneur Jade Samantha has opened a new natural hair care studio, ‘Jade Samantha Hair’.
The celebration, held at Phenix Salon Suites Derby, brought together members of the local business community, supporters of the Phenix brand, and the wider creative community. The event featured a show-stopping performance by Mproductime2show CIC, a Derby based carnival arts troupe known for empowering young people through performance and creativity.

Jade’s journey into hairdressing began at just 14, when she took her first job in a Derby salon. Now operating from her own suite at Phenix having been the very first winner of the Phenix Grant scheme, Jade offers chemical free treatments, including restorative hair and scalp rituals using clean, conscious brands, as well as her own formulations. Her suite offers clients a private, one to one experience with a peaceful, spa like atmosphere, a significant shift from the busy, chair rental salons she worked in previously.
The Phenix Grant
A new initiative launched by Phenix Salon Suites to discover and support emerging talent in the UK’s hair and beauty industry. With over £100,000 being invested into independent professionals across the country, the grant provides winners with a full year of rent free operation in a luxury Phenix suite, alongside personalised business mentorship and ongoing creative and commercial training – a package worth over £30,000, and Jade’s story exemplifies Phenix’s mission to empower creatives to grow on their own terms, without the stress of traditional salon ownership.
