evo x World Oceans Day
As today is World Oceans Day, we want to remind all of our Readers of the important role that the ocean plays as part of the earth’s delicate ecosystem, and why we need to act now to ensure it is protected.
Did you know that the ocean produces at least 50% of the planet’s oxygen*? It also absorbs about 30% of the carbon dioxide produced by humans* and helps to buffer the impacts of global warming. We’re reliant on the ocean for our wellbeing… and yet, humans across the globe continue to
pollute our waterways, with approximately 8 million tonnes of plastic ending up in our oceans
each year**, equating to one garbage truck every minute.
evo’s Commitment To The Ocean
evo is proud to partner with Plastic Bank to help prevent ocean bound plastic from polluting our waterways while improving the lives of the people who collect it.
How It Works?
For every evo retail bottle sold, the same amount of plastic is collected from the environment. Collection Members exchange plastic at their local branch to secure income and life-improving benefits like health, work and life insurance, school supplies, meal vouchers and more.
Our Impact So Far
Since kicking off this partnership in early 2023, we’ve prevented more than 2 million bottles from entering ocean-bound waterways.
- 2,054,000 bottles collected.
- 42,800 kilograms extracted.
- 59 communities impacted.
- 369 people impacted.
