ALFAPARF Milano Professional Architects of Design live the dolce vita in Rome
The ALFAPARF Milano Professional Architects of Design (AOD) team recently descended on Rome for a two day immersion into the world of Italian fashion and hair under the tutelage of the MOD Creative Team, led by ALFAPARF Milano Global Ambassador Emanuele Vona.
Held at the MOD Academy situated in Piazza di Spagna, a stone’s throw from the foot of one of Rome’s most famous landmarks, the Spanish Steps, the nine AOD team members from Ireland and the UK were treated to first-hand insight into the world of session styling, told by those living and working in a country that is home to some of the most famous and glamourous fashion houses in the world.
History of Fashion
With a mixture of inspirational demonstrations and hands-on learning, Emanuele guided the team through a history of Italian fashion and taught valuable fashion-led, salon-transferable skills.
The team tried what they had been taught in interactive workshops and created a variety of looks using ALFAPARF Milano Professional Style Stories including the S Wave, 8 Wave, Flat Wave, Classic Chignon, Bird Chignon, and the Never-Ending Braid.
Classes
The AOD team also got to visit the Accademia Costume & Moda (Italy’s equivalent to Central Saint Martins), perusing their beautiful private library which has been the source of inspiration for some incredible designers like Marc Jacobs, Alessandro Michele and Pierpaolo Piccioli. They also checked out a textile class, and a bag making class sponsored by Salvatore Ferragamo and Fendi.
Creative Process
“Seeing the creative process up close at the Accademia Costume & Moda was truly insightful. This was such a stimulating trip, full of learning opportunities for us all, along with fresh ideas that we can all use as Hairdressers. Learning from Creatives, like the MOD Creative team, who have a different culture to ours is always so motivating, especially when you are being taught by Artists embedded in Italy which is known for its style and beauty,” – Piero Gentile, ALFAPARF Milano Professional Technical Educator.
