Q Hair’s Lucia Jackson Smashes Marathon
It was 26.2 miles of sheer determination for Lucia Jackson, Senior Artistic Director at Q Hair & Beauty in Chichester, as she crossed the finish line of the London Marathon – raising an incredible £5,689 for Macmillan Cancer Support in memory of her stepmother, Angie.
Taking on her first ever marathon, Lucia, who’s been part of the Q Hair & Beauty team for an impressive 13 years, ran in tribute to Angie, who sadly passed away from cancer in 2021.
“Running the London Marathon has been a long-standing goal of mine – something I wanted to achieve before turning 30,” says Lucia. “I’ve always enjoyed running, but never imagined I’d complete a full marathon. It was beyond anything I thought I was capable of.”
Fuelled by passion, purpose and powerful support from her salon family, Lucia says the encouragement from colleagues and clients played a huge part in her success.
“Six of the Q team came to cheer me on – they had banners, met me at two different points along the course and celebrated with me at the end,” she shares. “I honestly couldn’t have done it without them.”
Lucia also credits the salon’s loyal clientele for helping her smash her fundraising target.
“This was my very first charity challenge, and the response was overwhelming. Our wonderful guests at Q Hair & Beauty gave so generously – their support made such a difference,” she says.
“We lost my incredible stepmum Angie at the end of 2021. After initially responding well to treatment, her cancer sadly spread to her brain, and we lost her very suddenly. Running for Macmillan was my way of giving back for the vital support they provide to families like ours.”
“Macmillan gives people with cancer everything they’ve got. If you’re diagnosed, they take your worries on as their own. But they rely on donations to keep doing that. I’m beyond grateful to everyone who helped me raise this money.”
