Mark Mountney talks styling
Salon Business recently teamed up with Tangle Teezer and headed out on the road to equip stylists with the brand’s tools and the know-how for a revolutionised blowdrying experience.
Meet Mark Mountney, salon owner at Zoology and learn more about his experience with Tangle Teezer.
Tell us about yourself.
“Hi, I’m Mark from Zoology and I’ve been in business now for over 22 years and 
hairdressing for over 30 years, and I still absolutely love what I do.”
You used a model to try out the new Tangle Teezer Blow-Styling tools, so tell us what their hair type is.
“My model Poppy has middle length hair, which is quite thick and naturally frizzy. It’s generally, quite difficult hair to blow-dry.”
What look did you want to create with the Blow-Styling range of tools?
“I wanted to create a really smooth, beautiful, glossy blow-dry. It is all about healthy and touchable hair, really gorgeous, stunning, beautiful hair.”
How did you achieve this look?
“I used the Blow-Styling Smoothing Tool and The Blow-Styling Round Tool to create my look.”
And from your experience what would you say about the Tangle Teezer Blow-Styling tools and their technology?
“For me as a hairdresser, it’s really about respecting and looking after the hair. With these tools I found hair dries much quicker, they look after the hair with less breakage, and they have the ultimate respect for the hair; they look after the hair and care for the hair. What I really love about the tools is that I can use the hairdryer on a medium heat, and it still blow-dries the hair quickly while looking after and protecing the hair with minimum damage, which I think is brilliant.”
Out of all the Tangle Teezer Blow-Styling tools you used, which one is your favourite and why would you recommend it?
“My favourite tool is the Blow-Styling Smoothing Tool because of the way it flows through the hair; literally it’s like cutting butter. It’s phenomenal.”
