Top Scottish Stylist and Fellowship for British Hairdressings Hairdresser of the Year 2024 Shares the Hottest Colour Trends set to be major in Spring/Summer 2025.
As we begin to navigate 2025, saying goodbye to 2024, Suzie McGill, International Artistic Director at Rainbow Room International, is already setting the scene for what’s next in hair colour, with over 20 years of experience and a career that has earned her ten nominations for ‘Scottish Hairdresser of the Year’, picking up the trophy three times, which ensured her a place in the British Hairdressing Awards Hall of Fame. In 2023, Suzie was awarded British Colour Technician of the Year, securing her status as one of the leading hairdressers in the UK – not to mention picking up Hairdresser of the Year at the prestigious Fellowship of the Year awards in December 2024.
As a UK Ambassador for Schwarzkopf, Suzie is well-placed to offer a sneak peek into the key colour trends that will shape the season ahead.
Spring/Summer 2025 is set to be the year of Mocha Mousse, following the announcement of this as the Pantone colour, red carpet-inspired trends and some fun, edgy additions.
1. Mocha Mousse
Announced in December as the Pantone colour of the year, Mocha Mousse is set to be one of the biggest hair trends of the year! Suzie says – “Mocha Mousse is an extremely versatile shade and evokes a real sense of luxury! It’s a rich brunette shade with glossy, warm undertones blended throughout”- Suzie explains “It’s an incredibly flattering shade that can be tailored to suit most skin tones”.
2. Golden Hour Blonde
A shade that made its debut at the recent Golden Globe 2025, with Nicole Kidman showcasing this colour beautifully with her bouncy bouffant ponytail – a real standout look from the night.
“Golden Hour Blonde is a Strawberry blonde shade with a stunning mix of rose and golden tones that was hand-painted with blonde strands,” says Suzie. “It just a real Sunkissed golden goddess vibe and 70s vibe, which I absolutely loved”.
3. Rich Auburn
As seen at the recent 2025 Golden Globes with Emma Stone and Zendaya featuring their versions to complement their styles. “While bold copper styles were huge in 2024, this year we will see a more subtle and softer take with Rich Auburn, which has lots of depth and richness” Suzie explains. “It is multi-tonal and incorporates soft and natural copper, caramel and auburn tones”.
4. Platinum Cashmere
Cool, ethereal, and ultra-luxe, platinum cashmere offers a refined take on platinum blonde. “It’s the perfect icy blonde with someone looking for something a bit edgy and striking — it can look great either sleek or voluminous,” says Suzie.
5. Sunset Coral
With radiance mixes of orange and pink, Sunset Coral is an uplifting shade which captures the vibrant spirit of summer. Suzie explains, ‘Sunset Coral is a fun, playful shade that is full of energy. It’s a fantastic choice for someone looking for a fresh change and has real personality”
As a global leader in hair colour, Suzie McGill’s insight into the colour trends for Spring/Summer 2025 ensures that Rainbow Room International stays ahead of the curve.
