Spectrum One: The Shh! Weave

Spectrum One: The Shh! Weave
Sam Robinson

Spectrum One Hair Extensions are renowned for their super thick and full, custom colour blended looks. Founder Katy Grimshaw, is here to let all the pros in on her little secret to a full and seamless finish – the Shh! Weave.

The Shh! Weave
“It’s a weave extension technique that’s made up of a beaded foundation with hair that’s layered on either side to conceal the beads. There’s a lot to love about regular weft and weave techniques; it creates that signature Spectrum One hair extensions thickness and fullness for any and all clients, even the ones with the thinnest hair types. But what can be challenging is if your client wants to wear their hair up, the weft option isn’t the most forgiving and 9 times out of 10 the up-do wont look seamless from all angles. That’s where the Shh! Weave really comes in play. When the client ties their hair up it looks like their natural hair, usually this effect is challenging for weave clients,”- Katy.

How It Works
By sandwiching the bead with a weft on top and a weft on the bottom, securing with a closed blanket stitch to seal it together, you’re left with a seamless discreet look no matter which angle you flip the hair. With a normal weft technique, when it’s down and laying flat you cant see the bead, but with the Shh! Weave you have the same effect when its flipped up as well.

A Custom Colour Blend
“Usually you’d buy a large pack of weave in just one colour, but we’ve started to sell Spectrum One hair extensions in 50 grams so mixing the colours together is super easy. All you have to do is deconstruct the rows of weave and layer the colours together to hide the blend. For example, you’d put one colour on top of the bead, and the other would go underneath, with a closed blanket stitch to seal it together it all blends to perfection,”- Katy.
