Schwarzkopf Professional AW21 Essential Looks collection – INSCAPE
Introducing the INSCAPE collection from Schwarzkopf Professional, inspired by the sense of escaping from the outside into a rich inner life – a trend collection that celebrates Schwarzkopf Professional’s 50th Essential Looks edition in an exciting collaboration with IGORA ROYAL and inspired by PANTONE.
About
The INSCAPE collection sees a natural partnership in colour; PANTONE is the world-renowned colour expect, shaping the shades that encapsulate every moment and IGORA ROYAL is the brand for professional colourists with innovative formulations that empower hairdressers to be the colourist they want to be in any situation.
“In the global trend calendar colour predictions come before anything else and you see them emerging everywhere – from interiors to the runway. The PANTONE Colour Institute is there at the very beginning of the process – so it was really inspiring for the whole team to create with them.”
– ¬International Creative Director for Schwarzkopf Professional, Simon Ellis (@thesimonellis)
PANTONE
The collection began with PANTONE identifying this season’s colour and lifestyle trends, which Schwarzkopf Professional’s team of Global Creators then translated into a unique set of 18 new IGORA ROYAL Mixes – each of which have been matched to an official PANTONE colour from their Fashion, Home & Interior Colour Systems.
With this being a collection to celebrate Schwarzkopf Professional’s 50th Essential Looks collection, the new IGORA ROYAL Mixes inspired by PANTONE have been distilled into 6 looks across 3 key trends, encompassing fashion, cut and colour directions:
• Trend 1: Novel Comfort – is all about texture, softness and cocooning
• Trend 2: Quintessential – offers a playful modern twist on retro
• Trend 3: E-phoria – celebrates futurism and a re-energised human connection
The Colourists
Schwarzkopf Professional’s Global Ambassador Lesley Jennison and Schwarzkopf Professional’s Global Colour Ambassador Arjan Bevers, as well as the creative experimentalists X-presion are the colourists behind the exciting collection – showcasing how the latest colour trends can be used to craft relevant looks ready for everyday salon clients.
Trend 1 – Novel Comfort
This trend is all about the quality, home comfort and self-acceptance in your ‘cosy cave’. A palette of organic earthy colours is showcased in effortless cuts, curls and multi-textural finishes to create soft and feminine looks that reflect self-love and that feel-good feeling.

For the cut, hair is left long with layers and lengths designed to make the most of the colour placements.
“This cut is all about flow and texture, it’s effortless, really soft and feminine, with a bit of volume and lift.” – Global Ambassador, Tyler Johnston
For the colour, Lesley Jennison uses the #blushblurring technique with soft apricot tones that are combined with enticing shades of brown for an authentic and sophisticated look.
“With my ‘mixes’ it’s incredibly easy to create really beautiful, bespoke colours.” – Global Ambassador, Lesley Jennison

For the cut, Tyler worked with natural volume and rounded curls; cutting and moulding the hair into tactile shapes to create a modern shag cut and style.
“Whenever I work with hair, I treat it like a blank canvas.” – Global Ambassador, Tyler Johnston
The colour sees a palette of lush, rich and luxuriant chocolates melt together, crafted by Lesley Jennison and applied using the #blushblurring technique to create an elegant, timeless yet effortless look.
“I love these minky browns and velvety chocolates.” – Global Ambassador, Lesley Jennison
Trend 2 – Quintessential
Bringing a fresh take on 1960s femininity, the Quintessential trend direction infuses soft nostalgia with a new modernity. Joyful floral hues are centred around ash greys and cendré hues that are brought to life through precision techniques, contemporary cuts, rounded styling and of course… a perfect finish.

For the cut, Tyler takes things short with a classic look, modernised by a graphic fringe.
“This cut uses simple techniques – it’s a classic, nostalgic style, modernised by pushing it to extremes – with a really short fringe.” – Global Ambassador, Tyler Johnston
For the colour, we see a muted take on modernity with soft sweeps of burgundy worked into several shades of ashy grey applied using the #candystripes technique.
“The techniques are fast and easy! Perfect for using in your salon!” – Global Colour Ambassador, Arjan Bevers

With the cut there’s a sense of David Lynch nostalgia here, a heritage technique but with a modern blow out – tonged and twisted.
“This called for a classic cut reinvented with a modern twist.” – Global Ambassador, Tyler Johnston
On the colour side, Arjan achieved a classically chic look with cendré tones that are softened and enlivened by joyful pastel hues.
“It’s all about blending the colours… so I didn’t only use IGORA Mixes – I also blended them into each other!” – Global Colour Ambassador, Arjan Bevers
Trend 3 – E-phoria
It’s a new dawn, it’s a new day and E-phoria celebrates a blended world as humanity is introduced into the world of technology to build a better future. Extravagant and bold elemental reds meet glowing metallic shades, with cuts to highlight the individual and styling for self-expressionists.

Colour – Creative Experimentalists, X-presion
This long and striking cut brings that ‘70s free-spirited vibe, with rounded heavy sides and a shaped fringe cut into disconnected lengths. The colour showcases a bold palette of elemental reds and magnetic copper applied using the #candlecolour technique; it starts with a salsa red base that’s contrasted with exciting lava reds and energising coppers on the fringe.
“With the amazing IGORA ROYAL mixes inspired by PANTONE we created the #candlecolor technique that uses just four foils for a trick of the eye with vibrant results.” – Creative Experimentalists, X-presion

Together the colour and cut have been designed to highlight and combine modernity with expressive violets that come alive through architectural shaping and clean lines that create an intriguing, dramatic and futuristic look.
“We really enjoyed translating the E-phoria trend into the hair, bringing back reds, purples and vibrant coppers into the trend scene.” – Creative Experimentalists, X-presion
