Edinburgh based salon, The Projects, recently celebrated an incredible first year with a stylish birthday party. Leading influencers, brands and local press were invited to the salon to mark a year since launching.

Fresh Approach

Co-founders Tasha Calvey and Lynsey Bolo have set out to create a fresh approach to the salon experience. Tasha comments, “What we see ourselves bringing to the table is a youthful and reactive cool factor. Essentially, The Projects is a mood and a lifestyle. When a client brings in an image or talks through their favourite style we know it’s not just the hair they’re motivated by. It’s the makeup, the outfit, the look. And that’s what we want to encapsulate in the experience. Yes you come for the haircut, but you also come for the atmosphere and lifestyle attached.”

About Style

The Projects are all about style. The interior is inspired by nostalgic moments in time that hold an era of style and how they are interpreted in a modernistic way now. Subtle Seventies hints are seen in their typeface, the pale pink retro velvet seats and the wicker peacock chair. Each have a moment all to their own in the salon.

Lynsey continues, “The last year has been a whirlwind. It was a no brainer for us to open our first salon in Edinburgh, our hometown which we both love and are settled in, inspired by and devoted to creating our futures in. In our opinion Edinburgh has it all, green space with a big city vibe at a considered pace that you can take it in and enjoy it.”

What’s Next

The brands second year looks to be even more exciting. Partnerships with Davines and XX, team expansions, a salon refurbishment and hair shoot in Ibiza – The Projects know how to stay ahead!
