A fabulous pamper evening at Gatsby & Miller’s Harpenden salon has given a major boost to a local charity.

Over 50 local ladies flocked to the salon in the High Street to sip a glass of prosecco and enjoy professional hair styling by the talented Gatsby & Miller team or a mini-manicure or glamorous make-up.

The event raised more than £800 for the A-T Society, a small but dedicated charity based in Harpenden, which works countrywide to support families with children who have a rare degenerative genetic disorder.

“It’s absolutely fantastic to get support like this from the community and we’re really grateful to Gatsby & Miller and to everyone who supported the evening,” said William Davis, chief executive of the charity.

“Because the condition is so rare, the people we support are all over the country so it is difficult to get local activities to help us fundraise and that makes events like the pamper evening very welcome. That’s especially true here in Harpenden as this is where the society was founded and where two local children suffered from this dreadful disorder.”

The decision to host the event on behalf of the A-T Society came about through a conversation with one of Gatsby & Miller’s clients who works for the charity.
