Lea Shaw: blonde colours which transition from winter to spring

Lea Shaw: blonde colours which transition from winter to spring
Sam Robinson

Lea Shaw JOICO’S UK Blonde Ambassador, shares her predictions for this season’s transitional blonde shades that will leave you feeling like a brand-new person.

We all know that hair trends move faster than the speed of lightening – but as we move towards the warmer months, it seems we all have a collective need to lighten up! But it’s not just those with lighter hair that are tempted by going blonder. Often those with darker hair also feel the urge to go lighter for summer.

So, whether this is your first time going lighter, or you’re a full-time blonde, here are my blonde predictions.

Winter To Spring Shades

Syrup Blonde
The hottest colour this season is Syrup Blonde. This maple hue has been sported by the likes of Matilda Djerf, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, and Jennifer Lawrence. I can guarantee this will be Spring’s sweetest shade. Syrup Blonde is an intensely glossy, rich blonde that seamlessly blends darker shades into a blonde base. This syrupy hue is a mix of warmer beige tones and bright golden tones, with a few low lights blended throughout to get that natural, sun-kissed effect. Syrup Blonde is great for those gradually wanting to lighten their hair as we move towards the summer months thanks to its low-maintenance up-keep. Natural roots can blend seamlessly with the darker hues, making it a great transitional shade from winter to spring.

Muted Blonde
‘The Taylor Swift Effect’ has seen a rise in Clients asking for this stunning shade, and rightly so!
This tawny, mousey blonde is perfect for the transition into the warmer months, and the versatility means this subtle shade can work for most colour palettes, with a cool acorn base and subtle blonde pieces blended through the hair. Muted blonde can be effortlessly personalised to suit your features and skin tone without being too much of a change. This is the ideal colour for those not wanting to commit to the upkeep of brighter blondes, or if you’re transitioning for a darker shade and just want to try something new.

Spring To Summer Shades

Golden Hour Blonde
As soon as the sun starts to peek through those dark wintery clouds, we’ve got one thing on our mind – going blonder. This golden, sun-kissed hue is perfect to warm up the transition into the warmer, lighter summer months. Golden Hour blonde is a favourite amongst Celebrities and clients alike, giving the illusion of highlights which would appear naturally after sitting in the sun after a long period of time. To achieve the golden hour blonde, I’d start with a blonde base to lighten the hair, then blend warmer highlights to give the hair that warmer hue. This blonde is a natural but bright shade that’ll make you feel like you’re living in an endless summer.

Chantilly Blonde
This creamy vanilla hue is perfect for those wanting to be bright and blonde for the Summer, whilst maintaining subtle warmth throughout. Chantilly Blonde is an ultra-dimensional creamy, soft platinum shade that has been sported by Beyoncé and Sabrina Carpenter, and I can understand why! This creamy blonde is perfect for warmer skin tones as it makes the bright blonde pop. If your Client has fairer skin, this colour may make them look washed-out. To achieve this shade, blends a few highlights and/or lowlights to add dimension to the base colour. To preserve this creamy blonde hue, make sure to use to use a champagne-coloured toner to get the hair that extra oomph!
