Hair & Barber Council announces new Chair and Vice Chair

Hair & Barber Council announces new Chair and Vice Chair
Sam Robinson

Following the Council meeting on the 14 July, Keith Conniford, Registrar and CEO of the Hair & Barber Council, is delighted to announce that Ben Dellicompagni of The Francesco Group has been voted in by the Council members as the new Chair, and industry business coach/consultant David
Drew, voted in as Vice-Chair.

Their History

Ben and his company run a very large group of salons, a franchise division and a government funded training contract. This gives him unprecedented knowledge of the sector at any given time, and together with his history on the Council made him an ideal candidate for Chair.

In addition, David Drew, who stepped in as Interim Chair when Dawson Penn retired earlier in the year, has been a huge support to the Council both now and over the many years he has supported the Council. David’s knowledge of the sector overall is hard to match and together with his commitment, dedication and indeed his contacts within the industry, make him an ideal candidate as Vice Chair.

Skill Sets

Keith said: “With their differing skill sets, and positions within the industry, I believe we have an ideal combination of knowledge, experience and background with Ben and David, and I will be delighted to work with them both in our continued quest to mandatory registration.

Representation

“The perception and status of the Hair & Barber Council has grown hugely throughout the pandemic, and with a new ‘era’ facing our sector as a result of the pandemic, now more than ever before I believe is a time for change, and the Hair & Barber Council has to adapt, develop and grow accordingly. With the ever-increasing support we now have from all parts of the industry, and our specific work with Government and through our All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for hairdressing, barbering and cosmetology, we are in an unprecedented position to represent the sector at the highest level in Westminster.

ONLY

“As the ONLY statutory authority for the hairdressing and barbering sector, we are enabled through the ‘Act of Parliament’ to recognise and celebrate professional practitioners as State Registered Hairdressers (SRH) and State Registered Barbers (SRB) and allow them to officially under the Act use these letters after their name.”
