A huge number of clients having restyles in the run-up to Christmas at North Wales’ premier hairdressing salon in Abergele gave a very welcome boost to a charity.

Phoenix Hair and Make Up in Chapel Street has supported for several years the Little Princess Trust, which provides real hair wigs to girls and boys across the UK and Ireland who have sadly lost their own hair through cancer treatment.

Phoenix has been able to contribute a massive amount of hair over that period but with a big demand for restyles just before the festive season, salon owner Pauline Heap-Williams was thrilled to find they had collected an amazing 750g of hair in every shade you could think of.

The lengths vary from six or seven inches up to ten inches and will be invaluable to the small, hard-working charity.

“We support the Little Princess Trust all the time and when clients come in for a restyle, we ask if they’d mind if we took off an extra inch so that the hair is the right length to go to the charity,” said Pauline.

“Almost everyone is happy to have just that little bit extra taken off for such a good cause.

“We had such an enormous number of restyles in the Christmas and New Year period that we were able to collect more than usual. I couldn’t believe how much it all weighed, an incredible 750g, when we bagged it up to send off.

“For children, losing their hair when going through treatment is an awful experience so it’s nice that the Trust can make wigs to give them something so important back.”
