#ColourFest: Safy B vivid vision
In the hairdressing industry, specifically the colour sector, we love nothing more than a theme. Whether it’s a day of celebrations, a colour theme or a trend in it’s own right, we love to create and bring our visions to life.
When you think of vivids, it gives an essence of bright and bold colours ie, colours that WOW! However, as our industry has progressed, clients are being much more creative with their looks and adding a few more trends into the mix – as a colourist I love it, what’s better than creating something new that’s a challenge? The vivid trends can be bold but also very subtle, depending on the client and their personality!
Here are my favourite colour looks and trends for this years vivid inspired clients.
The Rainbow Vivid
Incorporating reds and pinks, adding rainbow tones throughout gives this colour a point of difference and takes it to a whole new level – it’s a head turner.
Melting from a ruby red at the roots into a fuschia pink, the holographic rainbow is placed in the mid section of the hair, placed to provide a subtle surprise underneath the hair.
The Red Rose
For those who want an all over transformation which is both a statement look but more subtle than the bright vivid tones, the red rose is the trending colour. An all over global colour, this is very much a consumer focused colour, providing a real wow factor but in keeping with salon trends. It’s a colour full of warmth and one that will forever trend at this time of year.
Formula – Goldwell Topchic 7RR@RR with full 10% of red Pure Pigments
Tip – it is vital you work with a clean and pure base before attempting this colour. The colour must be carefully applied to allow for full coverage throughout.
The Subtle Version
Colour doesn’t have to be an all over, full scale transformation – sometimes the subtle additions make just as much of a statement as the larger. I named this the subtle vision, because it is a small and more discreet placement of colour than others and is much more playful and fun. The root shadow is a favourite with short haired clients who want to change up their look and be a little more creative.
Formula – Goldwell Elumen PIRose@10
Tip – when creating a root shadow, always remember less is more. Here I focused the colour placement at the crown and blended every so slightly – around 2-3cm maximum to give the ‘shadow’ effect.
