Apprentices Take Styling To A Whole New Level
Apprentice hairdressers proved that the future of the industry looks bright with the creativity and passion on display at the finals of the Central Hairdressing and Joshua Galvin photographic awards.
About The Event
This annual event always reveals the creativity and imagination of hairdressers just starting out in their careers but, this year, judges felt the standard had reached an all time high. This year the event was sponsored by Good Salon Guide and Barkers Hairdressing Supplies. Martin Kolton, MBE, Managing Director of Central Training Group said: “We were genuinely overwhelmed by the work on show which showed such a high level of skill and creativity.”
With a record number of entries, this is the second year the event has been staged in the stunning surroundings of the Bethnal Green Town hall and the 50 finalists created either an avant garde look or a contemporary high fashion style.
The Joshua Galvin Cup
As well as awards for hairdressing skill, the Joshua Galvin cup was presented in memory of the late hairdressing legend Joshua Galvin, to an apprentice who displayed an outstanding attitude on the day. This year’s recipient was 23-year-old Daryl Lonergan from Alter Ego Hair Design in Colchester. She was presented with the trophy by Stephen Nurse, head of operations for Daniel Galvin who commended her on her positive attitude.
