The Salon Business Awards were created to recognise the most talented hairdressing individuals and salon teams ever. It puts salons in the limelight, delivers a host of local and national PR opportunities, and provides the groundwork for an epic night out. A Salon Business Award has fast become one of the most sought after accolades in the industry, to proudly be displayed in the salon, while finalists share their own prestige. The Categories

This year we have 16 categories which includes the introduction of 2 brand new categories; AUTHENTIC STYLIST, and CURL SPECIALIST! To help you along with your entries, we’ll be posting blogs just like this, focusing on each category and packed full of tips. So, you can quickly see exactly what our judges are looking for in a winner.

Authentic Stylist Category

The Authentic Stylist category is sponsored by Schwarzkopf Professional. We’re looking for a hairdresser worth their salt, who can whip up a chignon or the blowout of all blowouts, while keeping it real. Hair that’s done but undone. Where attention has been paid but it looks almost effortless. Photo editing is strictly banned too, which is why this category is set to find the most authentic and talented stylist ever.

Who Can Enter

Any qualified hairdresser based anywhere in the world with a recording device such as a smart phone.

How To Enter

For this category, entrants will need to submit one video of a hair look they have created, either via social media using the dedicated #authenticstylist AND #SBAwards, or via email. Entrants will also need to complete the online entry form for this category. This will cover the entrant’s career history, experience and skill set. There may be a second stage of judging held on the same day as the Grand Final for all finalists of this category, which will be confirmed when the finalists are announced.

What The Judges Are Looking For

– Real, authentic hair WITHOUT photo editing.
– A high level of skill in both the cut and colour.
– Extra marks will not be awarded for professional videography, however the video must be of a reasonable quality.
