#SBAwards 2020

The Salon Business Awards’ first ever Digital Grand Final was an epic display of recognition, networking and celebration.

Last night, attendees to the Salon Business Awards from across the UK and over the water, showed that hairdressers know how to party – be it in person or in a digital world as it was last night.

Hundreds of guests turned up ready with their cocktail ingredients in-hand to whip it all together under the tutelage of our resident mixologist [aka our very own Editor Joanne Charlton]. Then it was time to announce the Salon Business Award winners of 2020…

After the announcement of the winners, during which they joined Editor Joanne Charlton onstage to accept their award, it was time to party.

Guests had a choice between getting lively with musician Brendan Mills on the decks…on the mic…on the sax, and heading into the SBAwards Cocktail Party. An industry first, the cocktail party saw guests network with someone new every five minutes providing a first class networking opportunity, like never before.

Speaking after the awards, Joanne Charlton said: “We were thrust into the digital world due to the ongoing pandemic and it forced us to re-think everything we know about an awards ceremony. The challenge was to give our finalists and winners the recognition they deserved, while allowing all of our guests and sponsors to interact in a way they never have before.

“The result? The awards were more successful than we could have ever dreamed of with 246 attendees, 232 new connections and a whopping 831 engagements in the forms of comments, and emojis.

“Hairdressers were so amazingly supportive of our awards – we couldn’t have done any of it without them or our fantastic supporters.”

A special thanks goes to Schwarzkopf Professional, Remi Cachet, iSalon, Moo Hair, JOICO, Ouidad and Paul Mitchell.

Launched in 2014, Salon Business Awards has celebrated six seasons and is currently in the seventh, which has happened through the most challenging of times as salons across the UK were forced to close their doors.

As is the way with hairdressing, we will all get up, brush ourselves off and keep on going. It is this that makes the awards such a joy to host. Recognising salons that push the boundaries, entwine innovation into tried and tested business models and inspire others is an easy task.

Every year we see thousands of entries that score highly on the judges’ markings, and we’ve enjoyed welcoming hundreds of finalists to our Grand Final, year after year, to recognise those efforts.

We have awarded 83 salons and individuals with a variety of gongs across the yeas and look forward to doing so once again, to conclude Salon Business Awards 2020.

Previous winners

Success in the Salon Business Awards brings a host of benefits from a boost in staff motivation, enhanced client loyalty and local and national PR, to ambassadorships and more! Specific categories will also encourage loyalty from particular audiences such as Curl Specialist and Male Grooming Salon, opening the salon doors to previously untapped clients.

Add to that a great team-building night out and inspiration from fellow hairdressers who have excelled and Salon Business Awards is soon an event not to be missed.

“To have won and finalised for these awards is unbelievable and myself and the team are truly delighted. To be recognised for these awards is such an honour and really great for our salon. What a fantastic first half of 2019! I can’t wait to see what the rest of the year holds for our salon.” Karen Thomson, Owner of KAM Hair and Body Spa
