Party Season Hair, Made Easy with Hairstory
It’s ironic that the time of the year when we want our hair to look the most glamorous coincides with the time of the year when this can be the most challenging. Battling with central heating, bad weather and a busy social diary can leave little time -or effort- to achieve the looks we so desired when we envisaged our party season pictures.
Thankfully, help is at hand with Wes Sharpton, Resident Hair Stylist at Hairstory. Here, Wes talks us through his favourite styling products and how best to utilise them this Christmas.
Hairstory Powder – “Wave goodbye to the backcombing brush”
“Powder is a great product to use when styling a quick up-do as it creates the perfect voluminous finish, without the need to backcomb. With your hair down, poof some of this product right at the crown and work hair backwards. This will give the hair grip to hold an elastic more securely and will also absorb excess moisture if you’re hopping from desk to dancefloor. Fasten hair into a ponytail and poof more Powder around the radius of the ponytail to help hold any pins in place. Proceed to style into a bun, braid or twist and use as many pins as you need.”
Hairstory Lift – “Rock New Year’s Eve hair on New Year’s Day”
“To keep that glam New Year’s Eve style looking fabulous through New Year’s Day, use a little Lift! Spray this product onto damp hair, tip your head upside down and blast with a hairdryer until it’s dry. Then take a large barrel tong and curl the hair in sections. You’ll be blown away by the voluminous finish, thanks to Lift, which is designed to be reactivated. This means a simple tousle of the hair with your finger tips is all you need to maintain this great style.”
Hairstory Dressed Up – “Because ‘pin up curls’ are fun”
“On damp hair, work this light settling lotion from mids to ends. Then take large sections of the hair and using a fine-toothed comb, smooth from the roots to ends. Wrap each section of hair around two fingers and pin close the head. Top tip: if you cross your fingers after wrapping the hair around them, it helps keep it all secure and for a more natural look, alternate the direction that you wrap your hair when working on each section. Once you’ve worked your way around your whole head, let the pinned curls airdry or use a diffuser until they are completely dry. Then simply brush/shake out.”
Hairstory Hair Balm – “For curly girls”
“For those with curly hair but who want a more relaxed wavy look for the New Year, work some Hair Balm into freshly washed hair (I recommend a detergent-free one, like New Wash). Take large sections of the hair and with a fine-toothed comb, separate hair into sections twisting as you go from the root to the ends. Allow to air dry and you’ll have a more relaxed look.”
