Extreme Hair Wars Launches On 5 Star
Multi-award-winning hairdresser Robert Masciave is set to star as a judge in a televised Avant Garde hairdressing competition. Robert – founder of Metropolis Hairdressing in Kingston-Upon-Thames – will feature alongside fellow judge Martyn Holmes of Strangeways in Essex and host London Hughes in Extreme Hair Wars on Channel 5’s 5 Star. The show premiered on Thursday 25th January at 8pm.
About The Show
Extreme Hair Wars sees hairdressers from across the country creating a series of fantasy hair designs in a bid to be crowned champion stylist. Each episode features four stylists teamed with a make-up artist competing in two challenges; Skill and Theme. With a strict time limit, the pressure will be on as stylists are encouraged to be as creative and daring as possible, while still showing off technical precision and flair. One winner from each episode will then go on to compete in the Grand Final for the chance to be crowned Extreme Hair Wars champion.
About Robert
Robert is an experienced, award-winning Avant Garde hairdresser, making him a natural choice for the role of judge. He has showcased his work to audiences all over the world and his latest creation – a couture outfit crafted entirely from hair – took over 500 hours to make. Now, alongside fellow judge Martyn, he’ll use his years of expertise to dissect the contestant’s work to determine who’ll go through to the next round.

‘I loved my time filming Extreme Hair Wars’ says Robert. ‘The briefs were pretty challenging but really open to interpretation, so it was interesting to see the finished work. I tried to be as fair as possible when judging but I certainly didn’t hold back in my opinions – it’s a competition after all, so it was important to me that the contestants really put everything into their designs. I hope the programme will inspire others to look at hair and hairdressing in an entirely new light.’
