LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION
Six talented hair stylists, three gorgeous models, one hair genius art directing – Schwarzkopf Professional’s ‘Lights, camera, action!’ photographic course for 2017 has been another success.
The Schwarzkopf Professional educational team came together at Iris Studios in London for a two-day course with renowned industry photographer Jack Eames, stylist Clare Frith and make-up artist Maddie Austin, to spend the day with three pairs of Schwarzkopf Professional stylists from The Hair Gallery, 77 The Hill Hairdressing and Jerry Bell Hairdressing to master the art of creating the perfect hair shot. On art direction was award-winning hairdresser Kevin Kahan.
Day one was all about the theory behind a photo shoot; planning the concept, putting together a shoot team, where to look for inspiration and all the key do’s and don’ts. Kevin taught the delegates all about how to choose the perfect model and had a casting at the studio to hand-pick the girls for their looks.
On day two, the studio came to life and the team began creating their looks. The team settled on a romantic and beautiful brief, with a myriad of soft, ethereal textures complementing a muted colour palette. Kevin guided the delegates along the way and ensured they got the most out of their models, with each member of the team working in pairs to create two looks each.
“Lights, Camera, Action is a fantastic opportunity for hairdressers looking to get into the photographic side of the industry. With it being two days, they have the time to adjust and prepare before show-time, getting all the hints and tips from Kevin. Photographic hair is so different to what we create in the salon so it’s great that they can come and learn the ropes before going it alone!” says Schwarzkopf Professional Educator Rebecca Stanton.
Kevin says, “to see the progress that the team made was an absolute pleasure. These passionate hairdressers have gone from having little to no experience of shoots, to producing high-quality work in a professional environment. It’s been a privilege to take them on this journey with a fantastic shoot team!”
