Denman Stage Star Competition 2016
Fancy yourself as the next star of the stage at Salon International? Enter Denman’s industry competition…
The Denman Stage Star Competition aims to find up and coming stage artists and give them an opportunity to shine. Denman appreciate that there is a lot of undiscovered hairdressing talent in the UK and Ireland, and again will give one lucky young person the chance to launch their career as an international stage demonstrator and educator.
Like last year’s winner Nicole Dodd, Denman are looking for an individual who can stand out from the crowd, and confidently engage with and educate the audience while demonstrating a wide range of Denman hairbrushes and combs to achieve many different hairstyles.
Those entrants who are shortlisted will have the opportunity to showcase their skills and techniques on the HJ Stage at Salon International 2016. They will be judged on creating one hairstyle on a model of their choice in a 20-minute slot, as well as:
- Stage presence
- Creativity
- Preparation
- Social media activity
- Denman product knowledge
The winner of the Denman Stage Star Competition will follow in Nicole’s footsteps and head out on an all-expenses paid trip to work on the Denman stage at the International Beauty Show (IBS) in New York in Spring 2017.
Plus the winner will have an opportunity to attend the HJ British Hairdressing Awards and take part in a number of creative photoshoots over the following year. They will also receive a full range of Denman tools and products.
The winner will be announced at the end of October 2016.
The competition is aimed at qualified hairdressers between the ages of 21 and 30 years old, who have either no or limited stage experience. The competition is applicable to UK and Ireland residents only. To enter this competition, please provide the following:
- CV or blog history of hairdressing career to date (this can be via a video blog)
- Link to online portfolio of creative work (Instagram, Facebook, website etc)
- Video footage of previous work or assisting on stage if you have any
- Social media channels

Shortlisted entrants must use only Denman products throughout the competition (where possible), and kits will be provided for on stage use at Salon International.
All entrants must also hold a valid passport for travel to the USA and be free to present on stage at Salon International on Monday 17th October and be free from the 12th – 14th March 2017.
The closing date is Friday 9th September 2016. Shortlisted finalists will be contacted by 29th September. Good luck!
