The International Visionary Award, presented at the show, is the brainchild of Alternative Hair President, Anthony Mascolo. It was created to encourage and identify new talent, giving hairdressers the opportunity to show their artistry onstage in their own show, as part of the Alternative Hair programme.

Marking a new era this year, there are two new categories in the International Visionary Awards: Commercial cut and colour, adding to the Avant Garde category.

Originally a small UK based competition, over the last few years the International Visionary Award has resulted in regional shows in Russia, Italy and Ireland. Entries are received from all over the world, resulting in fierce competition and an exciting mix of creative and avant garde hairstyling. ]

Tony Rizzo, Founder of Alternative Hair, said: “The International Visionary Awards received record submissions this year. The shortlist was truly impressive and competition to select the finalists was fierce. We have some amazing hairdressers in the final. It will be

exciting to see who wins the International Visionary Awards, securing their opportunity to present at the 2015 Alternative Hair Show’.

Anthony Mascolo, President of Alternative Hair, said: “Adding the commercial cut and colour section to the Visionary Awards has taken the competition to a new level. We have seen some beautiful colours and great techniques. In the avant garde section Pat and I were thrilled to see the detailed work and skill of many of the entries. Seeing the live final will be very exciting.”
