Refurbished last year, Luke Benson’s salon brings out the beauty of a monochrome finish, which saw him take home the accolade #SBAwards Design.

See what our judges fell in love with and what Luke has to say about the design journey…

“The premises was previously a Paperchase store, so we had to completely refurbish when we built the salon.”

“We preserved and incorporated the existing concrete structure of the ceiling as I loved how unique it was and it added an industrial edge to the space, but the rest we started from scratch.”

“I love the ceiling, instead of boarding over it, we decided to paint over it, giving it a clean and contemporary look while keeping the amazing shapes and texture. This also meant we avoided unnecessary waste and saved resources that would have been used to cover up the existing structure.”

“The reception desk is pretty striking when clients first come into the salon as it’s a huge piece of stone.”

“The backwashes and chairs are all Pietranera, made in Italy, and the bespoke reception desk’s material is Silestone’s new HybriQ Romantic Ash.”

“We have black metal track lighting on the ceiling to give an industrial feel but in a subtle way.”

“The custom built styling stations all feature perfect lighting around mirrors to ensure that hair colours show true. We also have a very Instagram marble pink toilet!.”
