THE GLAM-FEST THAT PLAYED OUT AT THE HILTON METROPOLE ON EDGEWARE ROAD IN THE NAME OF THIS YEAR’S SAKS GATHERING AND AWARDS, SHOWCASED – AMIDST THOUSANDS OF SEQUINS – WHAT IT MEANS TO BE PART OF THE SAKS FAMILY.

Hosted by Saks’ Managing Director Stephen Kee, over 500 creative stylists, beauty therapists and rising stars headed into the Capital ready for an evening of excitement and recognition.

The Saks Art Team opened the Saks Gathering with a show dubbed Material World. Saks’ Creative Director Luke Pluckrose said: “For this year’s show we sought inspiration from Alexander McQueen’s 2009 collection Horn of Plenty when the British fashion industry’s most controversial designer transformed trash into beautiful clothing. In turn, we chose to explore the use of diverse materials – fibres, metals and fur – to create ‘couture hair’. To a pounding beat the models rocked the paper beehive, wavy pins ‘fro, metallic cotton bob, fur crop and more – showcasing what can be achieved when Saks Art Team gets to play.

Then it was time for recognition and Claire Denyer of Saks Kings Hill was named Saks Woman of The Year – the first to be inducted into a Saks Woman hall of fame. Janet King, Head of Marketing, described Claire as “Inspirational. Fun. Multi-award winning. Strong. Beautiful inside and out. A brilliant ambassador for Saks. And someone who simply won’t let chronic pain get in the way,” to deafening agreement.

The evening also saw Athena Lamnisos, CEO at The Eve Appeal, present Saks Knutsford with Saks4Eve Fundraising Salon of the Year for their contribution of £9,230.90 towards the £115,000 that the group has raised so far to aid research into all five gynaecological cancers.
