Vin + Omi celebrated their 20th anniversary during London Fashion Week with their Moxie show.

It showcased their range of sustainable innovations and texiles including a continued collaboration with King Charles III.

Nettles and plant materials were taken from Highgrove and spun in a new technique and dyed with blackcurrant, beetroot and chlorella to form a nettle evening gown . Cellulose fibre taken from Highgrove was also made into an eco cocktail dress. Waste nettles were also harvested from The Royal Parks, Kensington Palace and used in a new process for a dress.

Recycled plastic from Daler-Rowney @dalerrowney1783 made the microfibre bonded textile for the print dresses and plastic from the host venue The Congress Centre was used for one of the jackets. They recycled plastic salon bottles from leading hair brand KMS and also powdered and reformed their discarded office furniture into headpieces for the catwalk

Other innovations in the show include the VIN + OMI Foundation’s NETMORPH project to produce new microfibre bonded textile from salvaged fishing nets. A scheme piloted with UK fishermen. The new white Netmorph textile has been used throughout the collection

Gina’s 6 Show Looks
“As this is the VIN+OMI 20-year anniversary show, we wanted to recreate looks from past shows alongside some fun new whimsical looks to showcase the future path of the fashion leaders’ vision. Collaborating for the hair looks with Vin and Omi has been so fun and creative as I needed to use my artist’s imagination, not just my Hairdresser’s skillset to design these looks. I handpicked my team for their unique skill and passion for thinking outside the box. And when you get to know Vin and Omi, you understand that perspective is 360 degrees. Not what you are looking at now, but from past and future too,”- Gina.

Baubles & Waif

The hero look for the show is “Baubles and Waif”, a whimsical, playful look that anyone can try at home.

STEP BY STEP

1. Section off random pieces of hair around the head.

2. Create  a small ponytail close to the scalp and secure with an elastic.
3. Add two of three more elastics down the length of the ponytail, every few inches depending on your hair length.
4. Pinch the middle of each section and push the elastics upwards to form baubles.
5. You can pull our some hair for a softer more relaxed finish, or leave it structured for more of runway-ready effect.

The key is to create the look using the minimum amount of natural hair product like Philip Martin’s to achieve sleek style, amazing texture, and volume without plastic silicones typical of traditional hair brands.

“I’m so excited to be working with VIN + OMI. I’m a huge admirer of their work and their philosophy, and it’s the perfect fit to introduce Philip Martin’s whose products are launching into my salon & spa. The range is an absolute joy to use, containing natural ingredients including Ginkgo Biloba, Moringa, Aloe Vera, Agarwood, Maple Sap and Birch Extract, and delivers incredible results without compromising the environment,” Gina.
