Who Can Enter

Step Up and SHINE is open to hairdressers of any level experience, age or geographic location, and entry is simple. You’ll need to complete a short application explaining your hairdressing background, your ambitions and record a 60 second video telling judges why you would love this opportunity and showing images of work you’ve created that you are particular proud of. Just make sure you use #stepupandshine20.

Exclusive Opportunity

This is an exclusive and unique opportunity for any hairdresser and is overseen by mentor, Debbie G who says, “This is such an exciting initiative. Christofer was a huge supporter of grass-roots hairdressing and believed whole heartedly in the concept of education for all. The Scholarship is open to any stylist or assistant, of any age and any level, anywhere in the UK. No experience is necessary but the drive and enthusiasm to learn is vital.”

Past Successes

Former recipient of the Scholarship, Nicola Hamm says, “Having won the Step UP & SHINE Scholarship in 2018 it has changed my outlook on my career, given me immense confidence, challenged and motivated me. The fact that you can tailor/choose which courses you need is like no other prize in our industry. There is no age limit to who can enter, it is for anyone who wants an opportunity to this level of training. It’s a really fair chance for someone to propel their skill set. Don’t think about it just do it!’

Shortlist

Once the competition closes a shortlist of six applicants is selected, who will then be visited during February and March at their salons where the judges will observe them working before making their final choice.
