College holds hair equipment ‘super auction’
More than 600 separate lots of surplus college furniture and equipment, including hair and beauty items, are to be auctioned online in a final sale at Harrogate College, North Yorkshire before the college launches its new technology centre in September.
The online auction, organised by Leeds-based Eddisons, is currently live and will close on 20 July. The sale includes furniture, such as chairs, tables and sofas, as well as a substantial range of hairdressing, joinery, photography, vehicle engineering and electronics equipment that has been used as training aids on vocational courses at the college.
Jason Pinder, director of machinery and business assets at Eddisons, said: “We held the first online auction of catering and kitchen equipment for Harrogate College a couple of weeks ago and it provoked phenomenal levels of interest. We’re expecting this second sale to be very popular too and there are lots of bargains to be had.”
He added: “For any garage owners, hairdressers, carpenters, electricians and photographers out there, or just someone with an office or other workplace to fit out, it’s well worth having a look at the lots on offer because the auction really does include a diverse range of items, from car batteries and lathes right through to filing cabinets.”
Harrogate College, which is part of Hull College group, has developed the new technology centre to provide improved facilities for catering, fashion and joinery students. As well as a new restaurant and bistro for catering courses, the redevelopment will also feature hair and beauty salons, workshops and science labs.
Viewings of all the lots up for auction will be held on 19 July at Harrogate College. Further information on the auction is available from Eddisons at www.eddisons.com/online
