Beauty Works X Maya Jama

Beauty Works X Maya Jama
Sam Robinson

An exclusive press preview launching Maya’s collaboration with premium extensions brand, Beauty Works recently took place in London. We caught up with Maya to talk us through the range.

Is this your first collaboration with a hair brand, how did this collaboration with Beauty Works come about?
I was looking for collaborations with brands that I already use and wear, so it’s authentic. I’ve known about Beauty Works hair extension range for a long time and have had their professional
extensions fitted several times by Stylists and Glam Teams – they talk! It’s a quality product
and lots of my friends use them.

How long have you been wearing hair extensions for and do you have a go-to for your hair type?
I’ve been wearing extensions for years! I like to have fun with different lengths and textures eg; in South Africa I wore textured hair all the time due to the heat and I love to wear a pony tail too.

Do you generally wear professional or clip-in extensions?
I wear both, as I tend to wear a combination of professional methods and clip ins to give extra
volume. I like to have my signature fringe or Trish / Tringe in my handbag at all times!

We often see you with your signature fringe, is this something that has been made specifically by Beauty Works with you in mind?
Yes, when we met initially it was something I was really keen to create with Beauty Works as it’s
something I wear, and a lot of my friends wear them, so I thought, why not create something for
everyone?

COOKIES AND CREAM - www.salonbusiness.co.ukWhat was the actual design process for the Beauty Works X Maya hair Collection?
We worked together creating some ready to wear pieces first, like the fringe and the clip-in wefts. Then we looked at the most popular professional methods that are fitted by a professional Stylist. Next, we worked on specific colours and blends and we reduced it down to 5 limited edition shades which could be worn by Brunettes or Blondes in any hair type.

Where is the hair manufactured?
Beauty Works hair is manufactured internationally, and is ethically sourced Remy human hair which extends the life time of the product. All the product packaging is recyclable and adheres to FSC guidelines.

How many limited shades have you chosen for this collection, and why are they foodie names?
Who doesn’t like food? There were lots of options, we tried to think of a music theme but since the colours have such rich chocolatey and warm tones to them, we just kept coming back to food!

Is this a luxury product ? What’s the price point of the collection?
It is a luxury product as it’s made from real Remy human hair, nothing synthetic, which means it’s longer lasting, it can be washed and styled using heated tools like normal hair and have multiple wears.
