Top Hair Trends for 2026
Sam Robinson

At KIKU Salon in Inverness, founders Paul Ralph and Hiro Kudo are translating the 2026 trends into styles that feel adaptable and personal.

For 2026, hair is all about simplicity, movement, and individuality. From clean, sharp bobs to the natural texture of curls, and the soft, flowing liquid waves, the trends focus on styles that feel both modern and wearable.

“A hairstyle should feel like it was made for you, not just for the moment,” – KIKU Salon.

1. The Sharp Bob

Clean lines and sleek precision define the sharp bob, a style with a clean, modern feel. The sharp bob is a shorter cut with very straight, defined edges, and while it may look simple, it’s a highly technical haircut. The cut has no layers or graduation, so every line needs to be placed with accuracy.

“It requires attentiveness, structure, and understanding of the client’s facial shape and lifestyle,” – Paul.

2. Embracing Natural Texture

2026 is all about authenticity, and that includes hair. From soft waves to tight curls, natural texture is being celebrated more than ever. Stylists are focusing on enhancing curls, coils, and waves with tailored cuts and products to bring out each client’s best natural form.

“Listening to our clients has shown us that many want styles that embrace what they were born with, rather than trying to fight it,”– Hiro.

3. Liquid Waves

Smooth, glossy waves with flowing, liquid-like movement are also set to take centre stage in 2026. Liquid waves are all about creating fluidity and motion in the hair. It’s luxurious yet feels effortless. Achieving this style relies on precision cutting, careful styling, and finishing products that ensure hair remains shiny and with natural movement.

“It’s perfect for clients who want a glamorous look without it feeling over-styled,” – Paul.
