The popularity of pink hair looks set to intensify as Barbiecore takes over the fashion world with the new Barbie film.

Versatile Colours
For 2023, pink doesn’t just mean bright, vivid fuschia, but a whole variety of options for you to create a truly bespoke pink palette of choice. Pink hair has become a mainstay in our colour menus and for 2023 there are choices from delicate to dynamic, explains Loreal Professionnel Global Ambassador Siobhan Jones. Some of my favourite tones are delicate rose, fuschia and softened tangerine. The great thing about pink is there is a tone to suit all skin tones and every hair texture, making it one of the most versatile colours around.

Siobhan’s Summer Pink Tips
1 Firstly, suitability is key. So, determining whether your client is best suited to warm or cool colours is a must. If they are suited to cool, then fuschia or adding tones of violet to your pink will work best. If they are suited to warm, then going down the coral route could be an option.

2 To get a soft pink hue, you must pre-lighten the hair first. Due to sensitivity, the pink can take longer to process on the ends of the hair. So I often apply my pink of choice on the ends before my roots.

3 For clients who don’t want an all-over pink, opt for a panel of pink at the side, through the face frame, or on the fringe. Blush pink panelling looks great on blonde hair.

4 Always use a colour shampoo and conditioner such as L’oreal Professionnel Color Vitamino to prevent the colour fading.
