KMS HAIR UNVEILS THE KEY CATWALK LOOKS CREATED BY LEAD HAIR STYLIST & KMS STYLE AMBASSADOR – SAM BURNETT

Androgynous, futuristic, galaxy-inspired space-punk-club-kid hair looks, created by KMS & KMS Style Ambassador Sam Burnett, landed on the runway at this season’s AW23 LFW show ‘SPACE’ from sustainability visionaries, VIN + OMI

The sustainable innovators’ striking celestial collection was complemented with stunning, intergalactic-inspired hair looks including pre-made head pieces and mohawks made from recycled wool fleece in etheral, pastel tones; slicked-back finishes; and rich, dark, box bobs and micro-fringes intermixed with brightly coloured pom-pom accessories.

KMS Style Ambassador, Sam Burnett, owner of Hare & Bone Salons, take us through the show-stopping looks for the collections.

“In times like these, when we don’t have a lot of control over what’s going on around us, we want to find ways to lift ourselves; and that’s often brought to life by taking ownership of our self-expression. It’s a reaction to what’s going on around us in society. We want to have fun, to rebel, we’re looking to start revolutions, for more striking, bolder looks. We saw it in the original days of Punk and we’re seeing it again now, which is how we came to create the very bold, striking looks for VIN + OMI’s show.

“For OMI’s Section 1, we created the hair looks using no heat tools at all and only one key styling product – KMS Moist Repair Solid Shampoo (£17.40) – hopefully, inspiring people and showing them how they can create the most on-trend looks in a really sustainable, energy and cost efficient way. The original 1970’s-80’s punks used soap to style their mohawks, so using KMS Solid Shampoo Bars is a brilliant, authentic and sustainable way to recreate this look, showing how to reinvent a textured punk essence for 2023. We also pre-made hair pieces to create spaced out braids and long ponytails with ombre colours, to emulate futuristic Club Kid.

“With VIN’s Section 2, we went for a combination of slightly more natural looks, Anti-head shape alien-inspired bobs and headpieces. The natural hair look was prepped with KMS Thermashape Quick Blow Dry (£17.40) which is a fantastic product to help reduce drying time and saves energy usage by up to 50%. We used KMS Hairplay Styling Gel (£15.20) to create a slicked-back, wet look taking sections of hair from the hairline to nape, adding deep comb lines, ridged using KMS Thermashape 2-in-1 Spray (£21.75) for a structured, strong hold.” The Alien inspired bobs were given a grunge finish using Kms Sea Salt Spray on dry hair.
