Darrel’s Wig Recap
A lover of all things hairdressing, industry name Darrel Starkey held his first ever WIG educational course in Skegness over the weekend.
An all-rounder within the industry, Darrel has expressed and unveiled a natural talent for wigs and wig making, and has received several requests for educational sessions over the last few months, prompting him to hold his first educational workshop.
Skegness
Held in his salon which is located in Skegness, Darrel welcomed a small intimate group of stylists from all over the UK who were keen to begin their WIG journey, and learn the foundations of the skill and begin to build their confidence in this area of hairdressing.
Workshop
The live one day workshop saw Darrel take his students through the entire process of working with wigs. The day consisted of learning how to map out a wig design for the shape, colour placement and finish, how to select the correct density, the difference between different types of wigs, how to cost and where to purchase stock from and the opportunity to create a wig and take this away with them. With wigs and hair replacement systems becoming very much a requirement in today’s industry, this course will help stylists and salons delivery additional and highly sought after services.
Darrel comments, “The very first WIG educational session was fantastic – everyone had a great time. Wigs can often be deemed ‘complicated’ with many stylists shying away from learning a skill. However my goal is to break down those boundaries and show how easy they are to work with, the best way to work with them and how to navigate to achieve the best results. It’s a skill that I feel every hairdresser should learn and feel confident in.”
NEXT COURSE
The next WIG education course will take place on Sunday 12th March from 10am – 4pm at the Safy B Salon in Aylesbury. The price is £200pp for the day and includes 2-3 packs of synthetic hair.
*5% of all bookings will be donated to the Hair & Beauty Charity
