Brian MacMillan of F&M Hairdressing TALKS KEEPING COMMUNITY ALIVE

Brian MacMillan of F&M Hairdressing TALKS KEEPING COMMUNITY ALIVE
Sam Robinson

Brian MacMillan, Salon Director of F&M Hairdressing talks to us about the importance of community and keeping it alive.

Constant Contact

‘Throughout the past seven weeks our local community in Barrhead has truly shown what solidarity is about. Before lockdown was first announced, ourselves and local businesses which surround us and those who are part of the BID (Barrhead Business Improvement District) were in constant contact whenever any official news was announced to discuss the impact on our clients and customers, that of the local economy and how we could help each other through such a daunting period of uncertainty’.

Tips & Advice

‘We shared tips, advice, guidance from our respected industry bodies and a feeling of friendship, with all parties feeling comfortable to share their fears or simply just talk to someone about how they were feeling about the uncertainty ahead. It was not only other businesses we communicated it with, it was our clients, the customers and the residents of Barrhead and the surrounding area. With the community constantly supporting us as businesses it was our time to show them our appreciation.

Delivering Products

We delivered products; essential items and our team also showed a great spirit taking part in this and giving something back to the community. The community spirit shown over the past seven weeks has been incredible.

Importance of Community

As we begin to look to what the future may hold, the importance of keeping communities alive has never been apparent, It’s shown us just how important it is to support each other in many more ways than we already do – taking part in more events, helping our neighbours and taking care of those who need a helping hand. We are fortunate that our community is close knit already, but ensuring we keep our support and kindness going is vital to adjusting to our new life after lockdown.

Putting it simply, our new normal is community led, community driven and all about being supportive and kind’, Brian MacMillan, Salon Director of F&M Hairdressing.
