Jason Hogan with Tangle Teezer
Salon Business recently teamed up with Tangle Teezer and headed out on the road to equip stylists with the brand’s tools and the know-how for a revolutionised blow drying experience, speaking with Mark Mountney last week.
Following on, we asked Jason Hogan Celebrity Hairdresser at Josh Wood Colour, for his thoughts on the new Blow-Styling tools, which help to deliver a healthier, frizz-free blowdry thanks to its bottle-shaped teeth innovation. Naturally, he was blown away…
Tell us about yourself.
“My name is Jason. I’m a colourist at Josh Wood Atelier in Holland Park in London. I’ve been colouring hair for far too many years!”
You used a model to try out the new Tangle Teezer Blow-Styling tools, so tell us what their hair type is.
“My model’s hair was fine although the density was quite high. She had hair slightly textured at the roots and more porous towards the ends where the hair was previously lightened.”
What look did you want to create with the Blow-Styling range of tools?
“Working with Emilia’s hair, we wanted to create a soft texture in the hair. Nothing too beach wavy, but more a suggestion of a wave.”
How did you achieve this look?
“We used the Blow-Styling Smoothing Tool to work out the texture at the roots and then used the Blow-Styling Round tool to create those lovely effortless waves through the mid-length to ends. To end I used the Ultimate Finishing Tool to give that effortless look to the hair.”
And from your experience what would you say about the Tangle Teezer Blow-Styling tools and their technology?
“What I really liked about the Blow-Styling tools was the grip they give to the hair. They also give the ability to work through wide sections, and rework through the lengths and give you a smooth polish at the same time.”
Out of all the Tangle Teezer Blow-Styling tools you used, which one is your favourite and why would you recommend it?
“The Blow Styling Smoothing Tool was my favourite. As a colourist, sometimes my clients need to get out of the door quickly, so I need to work through long thick hair but also I want to leave it smooth and polished so the colour looks amazing.”
