Trend Edit: The ‘Stories from Morocco’ LFW Show By Karine Jackson
Award-winning salon owner Karine Jackson devised the beautiful hair looks for the ‘Stories from Morocco’ LFW show, showcasing Caftan Haute couture style during London Fashion Week, and featured on Vogue.com and the BBC.
The ‘Stories from Morocco’ event featured a celebration of haute couture Caftan fashion and Moroccan fine dining, bringing the exotic colours, silken materials and flavours of Morocco to London’s West End. Curated by two passionate British-Moroccan individuals – Khalid Dahbi and Jalila Elmastouki – the industry day and night took place at the iconic De Vere Connaught Rooms.
The catwalk featured eight emerging and established Caftan designers whose works reimagined and recreated the classic Moroccan caftan. Their stunning outfits brought an opulent touch with exquisite embroidery; styled by Calvin Opaleye and team make-up done by AOFM Academy staff who used Bellapierre Cosmetics – the models showcased the beautiful outfits made by the following designers: Meriem Belkhayat, Leila Hadioui, Bouchra Filali, Houda Haloui, Nadia Boutaleb, Meryem Boussikouk and Romeo Haute Couture.
Former London Hairdresser of the Year Karine perfectly reflected the designer’s creations through her tribal-inspired hairstyles, saying, “I used braiding in a pattern much like Scottish tartan, three braids in the top of the head to create a unique pattern. The braids were then sleeked right back into a pony tail giving a glossy effect, and so movement was created when the models walked the runway”.
Karine, using Unite products, was assisted by members of her own salon team alongside P.Kai Art Team members Toni Tatlow, Laura Chadwick, Helena Dean and Jack Dettmar, and members from Academy Salons.
