Talented stylists of all levels entered the NHF and the Fellowship for British Hairdressing’s Step Up & SHINE competition for the chance to win a £2,500 bespoke education programme and mentoring from renowned industry expert Debbie G.

The Step Up & SHINE scholarship has been launched in partnership with the NHF and the Fellowship for British Hairdressing in honour of industry legend Christofer Mann. It was set up to seek and nurture enthusiastic stylists from around the UK who may not have access to quality training. The winning recipient will enjoy a year of bespoke education and mentoring.

The Finalists Are

  • Aimee Goodwin, Jeff Goodwin Hair – Exeter
  • Kim Moody, Simone Thomas – Bournemouth
  • Kim Nicole Jones, Studio 1 Hair Design – Anglesey
  • Lewis Wilson, Wilson’s Hairdressing – Macclesfield
  • Michael Purvis, Elaine’s Colour lab – Perth
  • Nicola Hamm, Escape Hair Louise – Southsea

Next Steps

The next stage of the prestigious competition sees the successful finalists interviewed at their salon by an NHF representative. The final judging took place in March with the winner of the Christofer Mann Step Up and SHINE 2018 scholarship announced at the Fellowship’s President’s network on Monday 9th April.

NHF President Agnes Leonard said: “Congratulations to all the finalists for getting this far in the competition. The Step Up and SHINE scholarship is a once in a lifetime opportunity, so we’re looking for a passionate and enthusiastic stylist whose career will really benefit from this invaluable mentoring. We wish all the finalists good luck and look forward to the next round of judging!”

How They Entered

To enter Step Up & SHINE 2018, stylists had to create a short video explaining their hairdressing background and ambitions and why they deserved to win.
