It was all hands on deck recently at the Cardiff-based Ken Picton Salon, when they were asked by Welsh opera singer Katherine Jenkins to provide a makeover for one of the women featured in her festive BBC special Katherine Jenkins: Home For Christmas.

Katherine hosted a night of star-studded entertainment, featuring Aled Jones, female vocal group Bella Voce and the Llangennech Junior School Choir.

Ken, alongside his makeover team (director and stylist Zoe Williams, make-up artist Lara Champion and beautician Sarah Viner) were on hand to help out behind the scenes with a very special makeover. Katherine organised a surprise for Fran, who had had a tough 12 months looking after her sick daughter Fliss who is at Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice for Wales. Ken gave Fran a complete makeover and a glamorous red carpet look in time for the Noah’s Ark Charity Ball. After her makeover, Fran said, “Today has been amazing. I never thought I’d get a surprise like this, being so pampered. I also never thought I’d get the chance to meet Katherine Jenkins. I can’t even tell you how I feel because I’m on cloud nine.”

Ken said, “This was a great project to be a part of and for such a worthwhile cause. To feature on TV with the wonderful Katherine Jenkins was a bonus.”

The team was also delighted at the weekend to be sharing the Ken Picton Salon sponsored box with actor Will Arnett (the voice of Lego Movie’s Batman) at The Cardiff Devil’s ice hockey match.
