With London Fashion Week only days away, things are getting frantically busy at the Salon Business offices. Still shocked and saddened by the news of Alexander McQueen’s death, the team at Salon Business have been reminiscing about the amazing creativity that Alexander possessed, his designs displayed a sense of ingenuity not often present in the industry. We know there will be a great deal of tributes paid to him by the movers and shakers in the fashion world and we are looking forward to paying our respects to him at London Fashion Week.
With that in mind, we are determined to celebrate all that is creative and imaginative at the LFW shows and in the industry as a whole. Firstly, we are loving the new Sebastian T-Shirts - my favourite being “To quiff or not to quiff” which has been designed by Henry Holland and modelled by him on Twitpic! Henry has been busy in New York preparing for his forthcoming London show, but he has also had time to work on a fantastic new Blackberry app – the first of it’s kind - as it lets you buy clothes from his runway shows with the click of a button. According to his blog he may or may not be selling t-shirts (F.F.S or C.T.F.O. as modelled on his blog by Agnes Deyn and Alexa Chung) direct from the catwalk on Saturday.
I have also been following fashion bloggers to give me some style inspiration ahead of the shows – my favourite one being Altamira (altamiranyc.blogspot.com)– the street style blog which is a mecca of inspiration. Craig Arend has developed what he calls 'the only site on the Internet dedicated to models off duty'. As a result he has some fabulous images of street style which provide creative inspiration.
And, if that wasn’t enough I have just witnessed an amazing video created by the team at Love magazine (headed up by one of the most influential women in fashion, Katie Grand). Directed by James Lima, this video is a fashion tour-de-force, so stylish and creative, I have included it below.
