Things in the Salon Business office are as busy as always and, with me about to head over to LA, I have been making a list of all the hair salons I want to visit and 'hairy' things I want to see once I get out there. In today’s Independent newspaper I read about the new Angus Mitchell in Beverly Hills and put it straight to the top of my list.
Angus Mitchell (see image) is the son of the late Paul Mitchell. Angus -- who previously worked for his father's empire – has opened a new salon called the Angus M store on North Canon Drive in Beverly Hills. And while he admits that "a hair salon may not be new to the area," the hairdresser says his business will set itself apart through the salon "experience" offered.
Angus will exclusively use a method in his salon known as Ionic styling, which uses negative ions to retexturize the hair. Products such as ionic straightening irons further promote the new craze of Ionic styling. But even in Hollywood there are very few salons specialising in this method exclusively.
In addition, all water used at the salon is filtered through an ionization machine, and tools such as brushes, dryers and irons all have negative ionic coating. According to Mitchell, "these naturally negative ions help our hair and bodies retain moisture, remove impurities and dry faster."
The salon will stock products from the Paul Mitchell Systems line and is currently taking bookings for its range of special treatments.
In his mission statement he says: “We work as a team with a creative mix of expertise and heart. Our stylists are highly trained and passionate about the style and design of hair. A healthy, ionic environment surrounds the guest in every experience offered at Angus M Salon.”
