Opened By Vivienne Mackinder
Industry icon Vivienne Mackinder, also one of the headliners of the event, opened the event with an inspiring show followed by an after party with bursting fireworks. The event literally started with a colorful bang! The color and the excitement carried through in the classes that were held on the days that followed: European Design Team members David Murray and Ryan Nicoletti-Dowd showed healthy color for the artist that likes to take their time with precision color formulation using Vero K-Pak Color – they worked together with JOICO Guest Artist Ben Mollin for this. LumiShine® was represented by JOICO Celebrity Colorist Denis de Souza, JOICO Guest Artist-Canada Melissa Duguay, and JOICO Guest Artist Zöe Carpenter who showcased shiny and healthy, ready-to-wear color looks in a soft red, a sun-kissed sombré and a beautiful blonde. Color Intensity techniques were show by creative color stars Phil Ring, Larisa Love, and Ricardo Santiago with finishing by Richard Mannah.
A Cut Above
Later in the week Richard Mannah also presented A Cut Above – in this well-received show he combined high-end cutting techniques & disciplines and translated them to wearable, trend-conscious styles. Mannah invited surprise guest Mark Bustos on stage for a personal talk about his passion and goals.
Brought The Know-How
Amber O’Hara and Jenny Strebe – both brought their know-how to the table with O’Hara walking clients through balayage application, along with onstage partner Max Maisano showing “faux balayage”. No balayage scenario was left unanswered so audience members could go back to their salons and practice what was not only preached but shown, step by step, stroke by stroke, foil by foil. Strebe, who is known for her braiding expertise also did not disappoint. The audience could tell that she truly enjoyed sharing her knowledge.
Unlock Your Creativity
Vivienne Mackinder, who opened the week, was back on stage twice more during the event. First for Unlock Your Creativity. This was not only an informative and inspirational keynote address, filled with lots of insight and first-hand knowledge from one of the world’s best, it was an experience to remember. On the final day she also presented the new edition of Salon I-Deas, supported by colorist Phil Ring and JOICO Guest Artist Gion Vincent. The Salon I-Deas training concept in which salon-friendly cut and color techniques are combined, will be taught by JOICO educators all over the world in 2018 and beyond.
