Hilary Hall steps down as NHBF Chief Executive

Hilary Hall steps down as NHBF Chief Executive
Sam Robinson

After seven very happy years at the NHBF, chief executive, Hilary Hall will be retiring on Wednesday 30 September. The decision to retire was originally shared with the NHBF board early this year but was then delayed due to coronavirus. Richard Lambert has been appointed as the new chief executive for the hair and beauty industry’s leading membership organisation.

Wonderful Industry

Hilary says, “I have loved every minute of my time with the NHBF and working in this wonderful industry. I’d like to thank Ian Egerton, NHBF President, and the rest of the NHBF Board who have helped to steer us in the right direction, making sure that everything we do is in the very best interest of Members.

New Appointment

I’m very pleased to be leaving the NHBF in good hands, with the appointment of Richard Lambert, who will start as Chief Executive on Thursday 1 October. He has a wealth of experience working at Chief Executive level with several trade bodies. I’m confident that he will continue to grow the NHBF so we can help you to run successful and profitable businesses.”

Carefully Recruiting

NHBF President, Ian Egerton says, “Over the last few months we have been carefully recruiting to fill the position and I’m delighted to have appointed Richard Lambert, who brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the NHBF. I’d like to thank Hilary for everything she has done for the NHBF and our Members. She has been a pleasure to work with at every level and we wish her all the very best.”

Richard Lambert

He joins the NHBF from his leadership role at the National Landlords Association, where he doubled the membership and expanded the NLA’s range of services and activity, while establishing himself as one of the leading voices for the landlord community.

Forward-Thinking Industry

Richard says, “I am thrilled to be appointed as Chief Executive for the National Hair & Beauty Federation and look forward to working with such a vibrant, forward-thinking industry. I’m committed to understanding our Members and their concerns, shaping the organisation’s services and communications to support them and creating an open, empowered culture from which we will continue to lobby government for change.”

The Team

The team at the NHBF, including Caroline Larissey, Director of Quality & Standards and Victoria Brownlie, Director of Policy & Public Affairs, will continue to lobby government to provide support for hair and beauty salons and barbershops throughout the COVID 19 pandemic and beyond, striving to ensure that our sector receives the recognition it deserves as a professional, creative industry.
