Fellowship for British Hairdressing Launches Competitions for 2020

Fellowship for British Hairdressing Launches Competitions for 2020
Sam Robinson

The Fellowship for British Hairdressing has launched the first two categories of its annual photographic competition – including one brand new, special category for 2020; the Lockdown Look!

Best Work

Each year, the Fellowship invites its members to enter their best photographic work from the previous 12 months. The full competition will launch later this year, but two categories are open now: the Lockdown Look and the Snapshot Competition.

Lockdown Look

The Lockdown Look is a special category for 2020 and allows hairdressers to submit hair looks they have created while in lockdown using either a mannequin or a friend/family member.
The category was created in recognition of the creativity in face of adversity that has flooded social media over the last few months.

Non-Professional Image

The Snapshot Competition, which is now in its third year, is for any non-professional hair image – photos of salon work, show looks or any other creation produced outside of a photo studio.
In light of the lockdown and lack of opportunities to get creative so far in 2020, the Snapshot Competition is open to any work from entrants’ back catalogues – as long as it’s not from a professional photoshoot, it can be entered.

How To Enter

For either category, hairdressers need to tag @fellowshiphair on Instagram and use the relevant tag: #fellowshiplockdownlook or #fellowshipsnapshot20. The closing date for entries is 5pm, Friday 9th October 2020.

New Special Award

Further details about the other categories in the Fellowship awards will be announced later in the year.  Chancellor Ashleigh Hodges says: “I’m so excited to add a new special award for 2020 to honour the creativity of all our members during this unprecedented time. It’s going to be so wonderful to look back over all the inspiration the community created during this time at the end of the year for The Luncheon.”
