#ColourFest: SPRING/SUMMER 2023 COLOUR TRENDS AND TECHNIQUES ALEX THADDEUS HAIRDRESSING
Sam Robinson

Expect elevated hair colour for 2023, luxurious and expensive through to bold and creative combinations. From the Pantone Colour of the Year, Viva Magenta to blondes and caramel tones, colour is coming to life this year.

RED & PINKS

All shades of red are looking HOT right now… varying from burgundy with its violet hue, to rich warm coppers and everything in between! There’s a red to suit everyone! Following the announcement of the 2023 Pantone Colour of the Year we can expect to see magenta tones across the board. Adding subtle flashes through blondes or brunettes or taking the plunge and opting for all over colour.

CARAMEL BLONDES

Caramel blondes are perfect for adding soft dimension and a rich warm hue. Perfect for clients seeking a softer blending colour, edging away from a higher maintenance bleach highlights. Its warmth is also especially flattering to clients with cool skin tones. This colour appears expensive and luxurious and will take your clients blondes to new heights.

HOT TREND ALERT

Subtle curl lights are set to make waves in 2023. This colour is created by adding highlights of colour and tone which are lighter OR lowlights that are darker than the clients base shade to create depth, dimension and texture in all hair types…fabulous for highlighting feature points of your hairstyle, creating a WOW factor next to none!

AIR TOUCH BALAYAGE

A colour technique we can definitely expect to see more of in 2023, AirTouch balayage. The clue is in the title, this technique uses air vs traditional teasing and backcombing to help create a seamless blend. To create this look, you need to take sections of hair at a time and create tension on the longest lengths, before using the hair dryer to push the shorter hairs and internal layers down and out of the way to help create a soft blend.
