#ColourFest: Bumble + Bumble – TAKING CARE OF BLONDE HAIR
Blonde remains the most requested colour in salons according to Bumble and bumble Lead Stylist Collette McGee, but needs regular care and maintenance as can easily turn dry, brassy, dull or gain unwanted tones. Below Collette shares her easy tips for caring for blonde hair:
CHOOSE GENTLE HAIRCARE
From platinum to honey blondes, the key to caring for blonde hair is choosing the right haircare regime that is specifically designed for maintaining and protecting your colour. Illuminated Blonde is gentle enough to use daily and has a sulphate cleanser-free formula that is colour safe for all blonde tones, and formulated for all hair types, curl patterns and textures.
TRY ROTATIONAL THERAPY
If hair feels overly damaged or dehydrated look to rotational therapy; advise clients to switch in a repairing routine like Bumble and bumble Bond-Building collection (Shampoo, Conditioner, Treatment, Styling Cream), rotating the Illuminated Blonde haircare regimen with the Bond-Building regimen to both treat and tone.
CHECK YOUR WATER
If you live in an area with harsh, hard water you may find blonde fades quickly – my advice to clients is to invest in a new shower head to soften and purify the water. This, in combination with the Illuminated Blonde range will help keep blonde vibrant longer and keep tones true.
If hair isn’t naturally blonde it can be more prone to breakage. Advise clients to brush hair before washing (especially curly types 3b-4c) to create less friction, knots, and breakage. They can then supplement with a lightweight hydrating detangler afterward like Illuminated Blonde Tone Enhancing Leave In. Remember squeeze dry, don’t rub and give blonde a heat holiday by choosing to air dry every other wash!
