Brooks & Brooks’ Tips: Five Ways To Wear Ponytails
Ponytails never go out of fashion – they’re versatile, suit all hair types and can look casually chic or sophisticated and stylish. A style staple on the catwalks, they are also a perennial favourite for a night out or easy weekend at home. Sam Ashcroft, Stylist at Brooks & Brooks shares his ponytail styling tips.
About The Ponytail
Universally style friendly, ponytails are great at giving a controlled look to unruly hair. Or, by adding a few hair wefts, a ponytail gives the illusion of thicker tresses, perfect for those who have finer hair. The ponytail is a timeless and forever popular look as it’s effortless and cool and is the perfect hairstyle for those who want to stay cool while looking chic during their workout.
Sam’s Ponytail Tips
- High-shine ponytails should be long and luxurious. The impact of a sleek, simple ponytail should never be underestimated.
- A high ponytail on the crown keeps hair away from your face, while giving a cool-girl finish.
Play around with the parting. A middle parting will give an angelic, innocent finish, while a side parting gives a more severe or grunge feel.
- Play with products to create the right texture. Damp down the hair with gel and finish with a high-shine oil for a glass-like, wet look, or spritz salt spray through the length for a more textured, matte finish.
- Play with textures to create interest – try keeping the pony simple and braid through the crown and occipital bone.
